One day at work I was searching for a website in my Firefox bookmarks when I realized that I bookmarked it on my home computer. I thought to myself, How ridiculous that my bookmarks weren’t synced. In comes Del.icio.us to the rescue.
What is Del.icio.us?
Del.icio.us is a website that allows you to bookmark you favorite websites, articles, blog and anything else you can find on the Internet. The best thing about this is that you can access these bookmarks anywhere you have Internet access.
Social Bookmarking
Del.icio.us also incorporates a social aspect to your bookmarking. Not only can you keep your bookmarks, you can share them with the world. This is social bookmarking. The sharing of bookmarks allows you to:
- Inform the world about what you are finding interesting
- Find what other people are interested in
- Search for needed content through the use of tags
Firefox Extension
One of my favorite things about Del.icio.us is its Firefox extension. By downloading the extension, del.icio.us is integrated into your Firefox browser and you can easily save, sort and access your del.icio.us books right in you browser. This makes Firefox as convenient to use as Firefox’s built in bookmarking tool.
